Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta soldiers were discovered in 1974 by farmers digging for a well. These lifesize figures were made to guard the tomb of emperor Qin Shi Huangdi, who unified China 2,200 years ago. There are 3 pits and over 7,000 soldiers, archers and horses. The Emperor enlisted over 700,000 men for over 36 years to create this tomb. Pits 2 &3 are still being excavated. Each warrior, originally colored with pigment, has an individual expression.
